Emma Turpin - Artist Statement
Emma graduated from Middlesex University in 2005 with a BAhons in Jewellery she then went on to set up her business. Her work is currently available through several galleries across England. She also exhibits at several contemporary craft fairs through out the year.
Emma's work is inspired by her love of Traditional British Crafts and craftsmanship. She draws inspiration from the Victorian and Georgian period and is influenced by Victorian and Georgian style including furniture, interiors, fashion and life of the times. She also draws upon traditional British folk life, which most has been lost over the centuries. Emma's work brings together the old with the new to create contemporary wearable jewellery, many pieces have a story behined them, and her new silhouette collection pays homage to the skilled silhouette artists of the 18th and 19th Century. She hopes to develop this collection to create silhouettes of people in todays life. Silhouette jewellery of friends and family can be commissioned.
Emma's work is available in several finishes including silver, oxidised silver and gold plated silver.
