I was a lecturer in biology for fifteen years before deciding to follow a more creative path. I have always had a passion for jewellery so it was a natural progression for me to become a jeweller.
I have been designing and making contemporary jewellery in silver and gold for the past nine years. Nature is the inspiration for my designs with several ranges incorporating flowers and leaves. More recently I have investigated human form, which is currently expressed as the Faeries with Attitude range.
The Mellow Moods Collection is the newest addition to my portfolio. Inspired by the patterns of stones found on some of Norfolk’s beaches, the Mellow Moods range currently consists of four ‘Moods’, Tranquillity (blues), Serenity (greens) , Passion (reds) and Contradiction (black & white). Enamel resins have been used to add the colours to this range of jewellery.
I sell my jewellery directly to the public at a series of art, design and crafts shows around the country; via a selection of galleries and small independent jewellery shops; and via my web site.
Although Karen sells her own unique ranges of jewellery she also welcomes commission work and has made many bespoke pieces of jewellery
